1 Samuel 5:1
In Bible class, we've spent two days talking about the Ark of the Covenant. We've talked about how it was where God's spirit lived. Today, we came to the battle of the Israelites and the Philistines outside of Shiloh. When they heard that thirty thousand Hebrew soldiers were killed, my kids were sad. And then when I told them that the Philistines captured the Ark and put it in their temple next to the idol, Dagon, they gasped in horror!
I was really proud of my students for understanding the significance of the Israelites allowing the Ark to be defiled.
And now I can't wait to tell them about 1 Samuel 5:2! And then verses 4 and 5... and 6 and 7 and 8 ... and the whole next chapter! God always wins.
