Aislin's Voice
I heard Aislin's voice tonight. Not the Lion - my old friend. She was in the living room and I was in the kitchen. She was laughing as she welcomed another dinner guest. And tears came to my eyes.
Aislin and I were house-mates for three years. Then for two more we worked together. She's been gone a year. But, I've missed her most at the moment when she was so close I could hear her laughing. It took her closeness to show me how my life isn't the same without her.
God is like that, too. Sometimes it's not until we spend an extended time in prayer - or in the word - or journaling - that we realize how hollow we've been. Sometimes it's not until we hear His voice that we realize just how lonesome we've become.
