Toys
Today my parents and I cleaned up the storage area of their office/workroom. Hidden deep in one box were their love letters while they were dating, all the cards they received at the wedding, and my mom's adorable wedding shoes. My grandfather's Purple Heart and other treasures were unearthed as well. However, the box with the most ooohs and ahhhs came when we opened the toy box of my dad's toys. There were guns and a little submarine (he had waited for "weeks and weeks and weeks" by the mailbox for it), a bank with rattling coins. My dad lovingly pulled out a plastic game - the ones where you roll the balls into the holes. Antiques, my dad kept saying. "I'd bet that's worth a lot of money." So, we packed my inheritance away - even if the greatest worth is now in the memory of today.
