Back in the Old Days...
As my last month in Haiti approaches, I am spending a lot of time remembering and reflecting. Yesterday I started thinking about all the ways life has changed in the past decade. This decade will always be able to be measured because of the time here.
When I came to Haiti, we didn't have cell phones or Internet, DVD players or laptops. We didn't even have air conditioning. We sat around the table all evening talking or playing games because we didn't have TV series to watch. We went to people's houses for dinners; they came to ours. We melted in the heat in the afternoons but did so on the balconies talking and dreaming away. My goodness, we even wore shorts! Ahh... the good old days.
