Sale!

It's almost sale season here in Verona. In the rest of Italy, sales begin on July 1st... but ours try to milk the tourists a little bit... the sales in our region don't begin until July 17th. What? Everyone has their sales at the same time? OF COURSE! It's the law. Having a sale at another time would not be fair to the other stores...

Oooo... I completely different mentality. It's the relaxed mentality that allows shops to be closed for 3 hours at lunch time. Yes, they could get more customers - but why? Especially when your neighbor shop owner gets to take 3 hours off at lunch. And who needs more customers anyway? Life and rest are more important that the big almighty euro.

Hmmm... sometimes screwy things in another culture make you realize how screwy your own culture is.
