I Love My Job
I went to work this morning at 9. Flip flops and rolled up jeans. No make-up. Whatever my hair was doing, it wasn't so pretty. It didn't matter. It was raining cats and dogs and I didn't care.
Today was Leslie's funeral. My dear friend's funeral.
So, I met her two daughters to set everything up for the service and the reception that would follow. We chit-chatted and told funny stories. We arranged table clothes and rearranged them. I made two new friends... well, it was like I was a sister, too.
I gained another dad, today as well. I looked in eyes as I read Proverbs 31 and E.E. Cummings. I hugged him - bear hugged him - and we sobbed together. And he was so thankful. He was so grateful to have this service... and to celebrate his wife of over four decades.
And I was so happy - even with tears - to be at this most beautiful moment... this hard, aching moment.
The sun came out right before the service. And for today we were family.
