The Weed in My Window
The same routine played out through the week. The three or four blooms of the day wilted. The new morning brought a set of brand new blooms.
The stem became a transforming art piece each day.
This weed has reminded me of Lamentations 3. It is a chapter of heartache and brokenness, of sadness and grief. It is also a chapter of reminding your soul to hope in God. Like my new blooms, the Lord's mercies arrive each morning.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness. -verses 22 & 23 (ESV)

Post Script:
This weed is Cichorium intybus, commonly known as Chicory. Yes, it's the Chicory you put in coffee! Just roast and grind the roots. Each part of the plant is edible. You can pickle the buds and eat the leaves and blooms in salads. If I muster up the courage, my weed is going to bless me even further!
